There is nothing quite like a post-summer pick-me-up than the prospect of another holiday and our good friends at easyJet really know how to cheer you up.
The budget airline has dropped another autumnal present by releasing thousands of cheap flights for spring and early summer 2018. The holiday season may be over for this year but that doesn’t mean you can’t start planning for next year. Treat the family to a half term retreat, have a long weekend in a cosmopolitan city or just soak up a little winter sun – what could be better?
With that in mind, there is one question that remains – where are you going to go? If you’re a little stuck for inspiration here are some of our favourites to whet your appetite.
Costa del Sol
You know where is always warm and sunny? The Costa del Sol. There is a reason why we love this corner of Spain so much – it may be the white sand beaches, it could be the beauty of bustling cities like Malaga or it could be the sheer luxury of Marbella.
Spring and early summer is the perfect time to visit Andalucía. The weather is hotting up and your favourite destinations are a bit more chilled out than in the peak season. Create the holiday you want here by wandering the winding streets of Malaga, hitting the famous nightlife of Torremolinos or have a week sunworshipping on the beach on Benalmadena.
There is so much choice in this sun-kissed stretch of coastline.
Immerse yourself in the sundrenched paradise that is Bodrum. Bask on the miles of golden sand complimented by the crystal clear waters that this part of Turkey can boast. It is an achingly chic destination with stylish marinas, quaint cafes and picturesque countryside.
Here you can treat yourself to a little luxury with a stay in one of the many 5-star hotels. Enjoy a pampering session in the rejuvenating spas and authentic Turkish baths before sampling the delicious local delicacies. This is a holiday like no other.
Tenerife has it all – beautiful weather, dramatic landscape and unique sights. There are not many places in Europe where you can see an actual volcano from your hotel room, after all. The island is dominated by Mount Teide and you can explore this fascinating national park…or you could just spend a week on the beach.
Sample the family-friendly vibes of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje and treat the kids to a day out at the island’s biggest theme park – Siam Park. However, if you’re looking to party then visit Santa Cruz in February and March when it is Carnival – the closest you’ll get to Rio de Janeiro without visiting Brazil.
Create unforgettable memories with a holiday in Paphos. The city – and Cyprus in general – is renowned for its world class scuba diving sites. Experience the thrill of exploring an underwater paradise and say hello to the diverse marine life that lives below the surface – it’s something you will never forget.
The city itself is a work of art. Perfectly blending the old with the new you can visit medieval baths and ruins while also chilling out at trendy bars and restaurants. It was also awarded the joint European Capital of Culture title in 2017 – well worth a visit.
We couldn’t end this list without mentioning one of our all-time favourite destinations – Majorca. The Balearic island has it all no matter whether you’re travelling as a family or a couple. We have been coming back for decades and that is not going to stop in 2018.
No matter what type of holiday you are looking for, you will find it here. Enjoy a romantic retreat in the serenity of Calvia, treat to the family to a beach break in Cala d’Or, chill out in the shadows of Port de Pollenca and party until the sun comes up in Magaluf. Where will you choose?
