Where to go for your 2019 family holiday

School is out for summer! All that lies ahead for the next six weeks is some quality family time with days out across the UK and, of course, that big holiday you have been planning for months.

A family holiday is your chance to relax and enjoy a week or two building sandcastles on the beach, sunbathing playing in the pool with your little ones. While they can sometimes need a military-style level of planning to ensure that everyone is happy, they can create memories that last a lifetime.

As some of you may be gear up for your 2018 adventure while others will be return home, it is never too early to start thinking about 2019. We have put together a little guide as to where and when to plan your next family holiday.

February half term

As the festivities of Christmas and New Year drift away, there is no better pick-me-up than a February half-term holiday. It provides a little treat after the traditionally lean month of January – and who could say no to a week of sunshine when it is freezing cold back home?

You want some guaranteed warmth for a winter break and where better to find this than on Spain’s Costa Blanca? Enter into the warming embrace of Alicante and Benidorm, choose from the wealth of All Inclusive hotels and never be more than five minutes from the beach. Speaking of great beaches, Cyprus has an incredible shoreline perfect for your February escape.

By the time Easter rolls around, you will have no doubt been bitten by the holiday bug. You’ll be looking through the pictures of your summer 2018 family break and will get the urge to plan another adventure. There is no need to wait for summer, not when the likes of Hurghada and Lanzarote are calling.

Discover the unique setting by the Red Sea of Hurghada or have a meal cooked over an actual volcano in Lanzarote. Both destinations enjoy temperatures the mid-20s, making them perfect for an Easter break. You may have to travel a little further but the rewards are worth it. Stay in a number of excellent beachside hotels many of which offer All Inclusive options so you won’t even have to worry about your budget.

May half term

Do you want to stay in your favourite hotel but don’t want to battle through the peak summer holiday crowds? It sounds like you need a May half term holiday. Perhaps even push the boat out for a little luxury for this spring month.

The Turquoise Coast of Turkey begins to hot up in May with the likes of Marmaris and Dalaman being real favourites. Wake up each day with views of the Aegean Sea then take your place on a private beach. There is an abundance of water park hotels with children’s activities planned throughout the day to make everyone feel right at home.

Summer holidays

This is the big one, the one you have been looking forward to all year. A summer holiday is what everyone talks about. When you meet your friends they want to know where you’re going for your “hols” and your children will already be bragging to their school friends about which water park they are going to.

The world really is your oyster with a summer break. You could plan the holiday of a lifetime to long haul destinations such as Mexico or become the parents of the year and jet off to Disneyland Florida. Alternatively, you could jet off to the popular Majorca resorts of to Alcudia and Cala d’Or or enjoy the waterparks of the Algarve.

Whether you fancy Turkey, Greece, Spain, Portugal or somewhere further afield you will be able to benefit from some glorious weather.

October half term

Much like February, the October half term is your chance to ditch the UK’s autumnal weather and spend it on a sun-kissed beach. As the summer heatwave starts to feel like a lifetime ago and we start to reach for the central heating, surprise your children with a week of fun in the sun.

The Canary Islands are our pick of the October holiday destinations with Tenerife and Gran Canaria sitting in toasty temperatures of the mid-20s. Stay in the popular resort of Costa Adeje in Tenerife and surprise the kids with a day at Siam Park – the best water park in the world, according to TripAdvisor. You can also see the famous El Teide volcano and play games on the miles of pristine beaches.
