The destinations you NEED to visit in the easyJet sale

This winter has been a seriously cold one. Whether it has been the Beast from the East dumping a load of spring time snow on us or the howling gales that have been a feature of recent weeks – it has not been a pleasant one here in the UK.

Don’t make the same mistake next year and opt for some winter sunshine. Luckily, our friends at easyJet are here once again with the present of thousands of cheap flights for autumn 2018 and early 2019. Instead of battling the elements on your daily commute you could be soaking up the rays in the Mediterranean or exploring sunlit streets of a European city.

If this sounds like your idea of a good time (and why wouldn’t it?), here are some of our picks for your next break.

Costa Blanca, Spain

The Costa Blanca provides all the comforts of home with that added bonus of year-round sunshine. British holidaymakers have been making their annual pilgrimage to Spain’s south-eastern coast for over 40 years and there is no sign of this stopping.

And why not when there is everything you could ever wish from a holiday destination? There are miles upon miles of white sand beaches, a range of resorts to suit families, couples and groups alike. There are the historic towns of Alicante, the picturesque escapes of Torrevieja and the crowd-pleasing nightlife of Benidorm all perfect for a relaxing break.

Hurghada, Egypt

Create unforgettable memories with a holiday to the increasingly popular destination of Hurghada. Don’t forget to pack your snorkel as this Egyptian beauty is home to some of the world’s most colourful coral reefs and a huge array of marine life.

When you’re not exploring the depths of the Red Sea you can top up your tan on the dozens of private beaches that populate the region. Then, of course, there is the vibrant city where the cosmopolitan bars and restaurants sit next to the winding, narrow streets of the old town of El Daha. If you’re looking for something a little different from your holiday then choose Hurghada.

Gran Canaria, Spain

Gran Canari1

Spending the Christmas and New Year period on holiday can be a special experience and Gran Canaria offers the ideal retreat destination. Blessed with pleasant weather even during the winter months, this charming island is the place to be for a relaxing festive period.

Embrace the beach life in the popular resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. Here you will find a scene of vibrant marinas, lively bars and restaurants and the soft sands that make a holiday complete. However, this is not just a beach break destination as the capital of Las Palmas can provide the city break vibe while the rugged landscape of the island’s countryside begs for adventure.

Enjoy a glass of champagne and watch the New Year fireworks pop over the ocean to create a moment you will never forget.

Wander through quaint cobbled streets of Valletta, admire the stunning natural beauty of the tranquil island of Gozo and party with the A-list in the bars and clubs of St Julian’s – Malta is the complete holiday destination.

The country has been growing in popularity in recent years and is the cultured break you have been looking for. Start your adventure in the capital of Valletta – both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the European Capital of Culture for 2018 – visiting the historical sites before reaching the beach of Qawra before letting your hair down in the neon-bathed St Julian’s.

And if you want to spend your holiday in blissful serenity then the quiet islands of Comino and Gozo are just a boat ride away.

Algarve, Portugal

We fell in love with Portugal’s southern coastline many years ago. The sheer beauty of the Algarve is enough to soothe even the most hardened souls and it is this that makes it such an attractive proposition for an October half term holiday.

Take the family to the popular resort of Albufeira and take your pick from pleasant hotels just mere minutes from the bustling beach. Pay a visit to Vilamoura and take a walk along the marina gazing upon the countless number of yachts and tuck into some delicious Portuguese food. The Algarve is a family destination that ticks all boxes making it a must-visit for October half term.
