The beautiful island country of Malta is the perfect place to catch some sun and have some fun in May, as there are many beautiful beaches, numerous dive sites, some fascinating historic sites and lively towns. Start off your holiday here by exploring the main resorts, which include St Paul’s Bay, St Julian’s Bay, Mellieha, Sliema and Bugibba. Discover shops, restaurants and bars and if you want to cool down, head over to the Splash & Fun Waterpark on the coast halfway between St Paul’s Bay and St Julian’s Bay. Also nearby is the Malta Marine Park, where you can see amazing dolphin shows and you even swim with dolphins!
If you’re after beautiful beaches head to the small islands of Comino, which lies between the larger island of Gozo and Malta’s northern shore. This is where the beautiful blue lagoon is located, a stunning shallow lagoon that’s perfect for smaller kids, as the water is almost completely still. If you don’t mind spending a bit more time on a plane, head a little further afield to Cyprus, which offers everything you’ll need to have a relaxing yet entertaining May Half Term Holiday. You won’t be able to resist spending some time on the beautifully soft white sand of the many beaches around the coast and make sure you go for a swim in the clear warm waters. There are some great diving and snorkeling sites close to the shore, so maybe have a go to see what you can see under the surface.
If you love waterparks then you’re in luck, as there are some fantastic ones in Cyprus! The Fasouri Waterpark is huge and can be found near Limassol. It features many exhilarating slides, fun pools and the smaller kids have their very own area to enjoy. If you’re staying closer to Ayia Napa then take a trip to the WaterWorld Waterpark, which is also very big and features over 25 attractions with slides and pools.
In May the average high temperature is a sizzling 26˚C, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy the waterparks and the beautiful waters. Sunbathing is also a must and if you want to see the striking coastline from the sea, take one of the many boat trips across the water.
With a vast number of gorgeous coastal resorts to choose from, Turkey is one of the best places for sun, fun and relaxation over the May Half Term. Chances are that no matter where you choose along the coast, you will never be too far from a stunning beach where you can chill out and work on your tan. The resort of Olu Deniz is located on the famous Turquoise Coast and is home to the Blue Lagoon, a popular spot for those visiting the area. The long beach offers lots of space and you won’t be able to resist taking a dip in the sea.
The wonderful city of Antalya also makes a great choice, as this is where you will find one of the regions most popular water parks – Aqualand at Beachpark. Get the adrenaline pumping by sliding down the fast slides, splash in the pools and check out Dolphinland for your chance to swim with dolphins and see entertaining shows. The average high temperature is 26˚C in March, so expect sizzling sun and blue skies. The popular North African country of Morocco is a fantastic place to choose for your May Half Term Holiday getaway, as it boasts a superb selection of things to do that the whole family will enjoy. We recommend heading to Marrakech, the capital of the country, as it’s full of various sights and attractions. If you love to shop, visit the historic part of the city known as the Medina, as there’s an almost endless number of bazaars offering a superb selection of pottery, clothing and spices. There are also many historic sites to see, such as the Saadian Tombs and El Bahia Palace.
With average high temperatures of 29˚C in May, you’ll be pleased to hear that there are some fantastic water parks here. The Oasiria Waterpark is huge and boasts many excellent slides and beautiful pools. The grassy areas here are well kept and offer the perfect spots for when you want to relax in the shade under a tree. Morocco’s coastline is home to many beautiful sandy beaches, which are great for a day out under the sun. Cool off by splashing in the water and see if you can find some boat trips to enjoy.
