Live the Love Island life on Majorca’s best beaches

One thing is captivating the summer months. It has got the nation talking and everyone is gripped by the drama that will unfold over the coming weeks. It will have it all – the highs, the lows, the tears, the laughter and ultimately the victory.

And once the fanfare dies down we will be counting down the days before it all starts again. There is one question on everybody’s lips – who will win Love Island 2018?

Yes, the biggest event of the summer is back and we’re already settling in for weeks of grafting, cracking on, pieing and in-depth discourse about British politics all under the Balearic sun. Watching day-after-day of unparalleled sunshine makes us excited for our next holiday.

Create your own Love Island experience by taking to the best beaches Majorca has to offer. Here are a few of our star picks.

Cala Tuent

Escape the hubbub of the island’s lively southern coast and head north to find the hidden cove of Cala Tuent. Step on to this light pebble shore and drink in the spectacular scenery of the nearby Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. The only sound you will hear is the quiet lapping of the ocean waters and the calm breeze passing over this oasis.

This is a beach well off the beaten track so there are times when you could have it entirely to yourself creating your own private retreat.

Playa de Muro

Almost the polar opposite to Cala Tuent, Playa de Muro is one of the longest beaches in Majorca within easy reach of the popular resort of Alcudia. Split into four sections, this Blue Flag beach can boast soft, white sands and shallow turquoise waters to provide an inviting setting for all of its visitors.

Running from Port d’Alcudia to Can Picafort, it takes in S’Albufera Natural Park and ranges from chilled out dunes and pine trees to lively promenades lined with bars and restaurants.

Cala Formentor

Majorca is a holiday destination that rewards a little endeavour. Once you have navigated the steep, winding roads of the mountains close to Port de Pollenca you will discover the gift of Cala Formentor. Like Cala Tuent, it is another hidden escape lined with a pine forest with picturesque views on offer.

Take a dip in the calm blue sea and cool off during the hot summer months in the shaded spots. And if you don’t fancy the idea of driving along mountain roads, you can always catch a boat trip from Port de Pollenca.

Cala Mesquida

As you stroll along the wooden walkway from the resort of Cala Mesquida you can appreciate the natural charm of its beach. Tucked away on Majorca’s north-east coast is a lovely cove of sand dunes complimented by a backdrop of rolling green hills.

There is a sense you are visiting an authentic slice of Majorca as the horizon is free from development and the area is populated by protected colonies of gulls and cormorants. Wander down here in the evening to a spectacular sunset – you will feel as if you are on your very own Love Island date.

Playa de Palma

While many people come to Majorca for a week of relaxation, if you are more of an explorer then staying in the capital of Palma is just for you. Spend a romantic long weekend sightseeing, dining in some of the best restaurants on the island and sampling its unique nightlife.

When you need a little downtime, where better to unwind than the city’s own beach? Stretching from S’Arenal to Can Pastilla, Playa de Palma is the perfect place to relax and is only a short walk from the heart of the capital.

Es Calo des Moro Beach

When you take a moment to picture your ideal beach there is a good chance it will look exactly like Es Calo des Moro Beach. After all, when a secluded cove is described as ‘one of the last paradises of Majorca’, you know there is something magical surrounding it.

Take the short drive from Santanyi and you will find the pinnacle of beaches in the Balearic Islands. Follow the winding path and prepare to be dazzled by the perfect nature of this cove. Time it right and you could have this paradise to yourself and no moment on Love Island could ever top this feeling.
