Discover Bulgaria This Summer

Discover what Bulgaria holidays are all about this summer by taking the family to one of Bulgaria’s top resorts. Bulgaria is one of our most popular selling resorts this summer and it’s easy to see why.

Sunny Beach

Along Bulgaria’s glorious Black Sea coast is where you will find the resort of Sunny Beach, a popular destination for those looking for the ultimate beach holiday in Bulgaria. It’s home to a beautiful stretch of golden sand, which curves along the coast for approximately 10km and is as wide as 60 feet in some place, so you will never be short of space to spread out and soak up the sun.

They will love paddling in the warm waters, while the older kids and adults try out the thrilling watersports. All the usual watersports are available; including water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, sailing and don’t forget the good old banana boat.

You’ll be pleased to know that Sunny Beach came out in a survey as the cheapest when it came to eating out – with a three-course family meal for four costing an average of £28.89, which was cheaper than the Costa del Sol! You’ll never be far from shops, cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat – and there’s plenty of supermarkets nearby if you wanted to stock on snacks for throughout the day.

Only a stone’s throw away from the beach is the Action Aquapark, the clue is in the name – it’s full of action thrilling waterslides. You will feel almost weightless, as you speed down the colourful free fall slide and you’ll enjoy going super fast down the Extreme slide. Race each other down the Multislide, get lost in the Black Hole and climb the giant Uphil Navigator, which will take you up, as well as down!

It’s a proper ace waterpark, definitely one of our faves, so make sure you go at least once.

The ancient town of Nessebar is also worth a visit, and is perfect for those who appreciate ancient history. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was originally a Thracian settlement more that three thousand years ago. Today it’s a bustling holiday resort but its history can still be seen and appreciated in the Old Town, which is located on a small peninsula. Here you’ll find more than forty churches, historic houses, Roman ruins and an archaeological museum, all of which are well worth exploring.

After discovering the ancient sites, head to the New Town part of Nessebar where you can take a break in one of the cafes and restaurants. The beach here is also very pleasant and consists of shingle, which stretches for around 2.5km. It has prestigious Blue Flag status, so you can be sure that it is kept clean and safe.

Golden Sands

Around 100km to the north of Sunny Beach and Nessebar is another amazing Bulgarian resort that’s well worth visiting. Golden Sands, is one of the most popular holiday resorts in Bulgaria and offers a stunning stretch of coastline, similar to that in Sunny Beach. Some sections of the beach are privately owned by the hotels but the majority of the beach is free to use, so get ready to find the perfect spot!

In terms of eating out, there’s quite a varied selection of restaurants to try at Golden Sands, make sure you try some local delicacies. Bulgarian food is tasty, fresh and hearty – it’s most famous for its quality vegetables, dairy products and mild spices.

Nearby attractions include the Aladzha Monastery, a fascinating ancient cave monastery built into the side of a cliff around 4km from Golden Sands. There’s also a few mineral spas that are really popular amongst the locals.
